Portobello Mushroom Burgers

Ingredients

4 Portobello Mushrooms

3 tbsp Olive Oil

1 tsp Garlic Powder

1 tsp Black Pepper

Salt to Taste

Toppings

4 Burger Buns

 4 pieces Butter Lettuce

½ Beefsteak Tomato, thinly sliced

½ Red Onion, Thinly Sliced

4 slices American Cheese

Bread and Butter Pickles

Ketchup

Mustard

Mayonnaise

And any toppings you prefer!

Directions

Thoroughly wash the portobello mushrooms and pat them dry. Drizzle and rub the olive oil evenly across the mushroom, then season them with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

Heat a pan on the stove on high heat (*Note: if you have a pan big enough for all four, use that to finish them off in one round)

Once the pan is scorching hot, place the mushroom caps face down in the pan and let them cook for about 5 minutes. Covering them up is a good idea to speed up the cooking process. Once you see moisture develop across the top, remove the lid and flip the mushrooms over to get that nice crust. You want all the liquid to be soaked up so the mushroom is not still juicy when you are eating it.

As soon as you see that has happened, place the cheese on the mushrooms, remove them from the pan and place them directly on the buns.

Top the bun with whatever toppings you prefer. We like the standard burger toppings but there are unlimited options to choose from!

Serve and enjoy!
